The Montessori Teacher Institute (MTI) is an early childhood teacher preparation course of study specializing in the Montessori philosophy and method of education. MTI is accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).

Our Vision is to prepare adults to become certified Montessori Teachers meeting the national standards as defined by MACTE and AMS and to expand awareness and knowledge of Montessori philosophy and methods of education within the general population. MTI is part of Three Rivers Community College and holds the mutual vision is to meet the diverse educational and workforce needs of the community by creating an environment that stimulates learning. The college provides educational opportunities that are affordable and accessible.

Our Mission
Preparation of the teacher:

At the Montessori Teacher Institute we believe that the task of the adult is to prepare the environment, to guide the child to it, and assist in the unfolding of the child’s being.
The prepared Montessori teacher fosters positive sensory experiences and serves as a multifaceted guide and model in all domains of growth and development. The children do the rest. They construct their own personal knowledge through their active participation and meaningful experiences within this well prepared physical, temporal and interpersonal Montessori environment. Through this process the child develops personal responsibility and positive self esteem.
MTI offers educational opportunities to the broader community and provides professional development opportunities to area high schools and other institutes of learning.

MTI is accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
