Aug 16, 2006:

Dear Student,
Welcome
to Three Rivers! You are coming at a
very exciting time as we begin work on the long awaited consolidation of our
two campuses. Work has already begun at
the Mohegan Campus on the new buildings for Norwich Technical
High School. Construction
at the Thames Valley Campus will begin next January, and within the next two
years you will be able to witness the creation of a new, state-of-the-art
educational institution that will undoubtedly be the pride of Southeastern
Connecticut.
Unfortunately
this may also be a somewhat messy, noisy and confusing time for all of us. For
this, we apologize in advance and ask for your patience and cooperation in
meeting these challenges particularly in the following ways:
·
DON’T LET
PARKING GET YOU DOWN: One of the most frustrating aspects of this
construction project will be the shortage of overall parking space,
particularly at the Mohegan Campus. While the lower parking lot there is being
temporarily expanded to accommodate 500 cars, the loss of other parking will
leave the campus short about 100 spaces at peak periods. Here are a couple of things you can do to
help.
o
Arrive early for
your classes and give yourself enough time to find a parking space and walk
from that location.
o
Whenever
possible, carpool with other students, use public transportation, or schedule
your visits to the college at non-peak periods.
o
When college lots
are full, use the public parking lot at the end of
Mahan Drive (about ¼ mile from the
college).
o
Watch for
periodic parking updates as we are actively looking for additional space in the
neighborhood.
·
STAY INFORMED: Information about our construction projects
at both campus will be posted throughout the college on bulletin boards, information
screens, and on the college website
http://www.trcc.commnet.edu/Collocation/news.htm. Please check these areas frequently as
construction is moving along rapidly and things change daily. Additionally:
o
Please make sure your
up-to-date e-mail address is on record at the college. Information updates and other important
notices will be provided periodically to students who make these addresses
available.
o
If you have any
questions about this project, don’t hesitate to ask any of your instructors or
other members of the college staff. You
can also refer these questions to either of these college numbers, 383-5202 or
885-2327.
HAVE
A GREAT SEMESTER!!!
